But what if you haven't dusted off that vision in awhile? Is it time for further reflection?
Here are three ways to approach your vision as you move forward:
1. Tinker with your vision. Don't assume that just because you thought of a successful business plan 10 years ago that it's not worth a second look. Rather than make wholesale changes, tweak your vision in light of the latest realities you face.
2. Expand your vision. Are you looking to hold on to what's comfortable? If so, you may be missing out on new opportunities. Holding on forces you to justify what you've done. It takes your eye off of where you're going. Expanding your vision may involve redefining your ideal customer or, ironically, narrowing your niche.
3. Create a new vision. Let the power of reinvention cause you to imagine the world anew. Imagine yourself fitting into that reimagined world. What does it look like? How are you able to benefit, help, inspire?
When we imagine the future we'd like to enjoy, we increase the likelihood of making it happen.
