Want to jump start your goal-setting or vision planning? Start with this question: How do you want to be remembered?
Try to imagine your life in a few years. Where do you live? What new aspects of life are you experiencing? Most important, what have you accomplished between now and then?
The answer is not always in a title, position or purchase.

The answer is not always in a title, position or purchase.
The answer may be in a activity or project. For instance, you may have traveled to three new countries or written a book. You may have taken on new responsibility for a political or charitable cause, or perhaps gone back to school for a new degree.
The point is to start by imagining your life in the future and what it will look like after you have accomplished the goals you have set for yourself. By looking through the lens of "how do you want to be remembered?" you're more likely to select goals with purpose and significance.
Remember, the same amount of time will pass whether you accomplish your goals or not. You might as well be 10 years older with several achievements to your credit than simply 10 years older.
Anything to add? I'd love to get your feedback.
