Sometimes words are not quite enough when it comes to teaching, training or explaining your purpose or passion. Sometimes we really do need photos or images to help communicate.
Take the extreme weather conditions this week in the Chicago area. On Thursday we had triple digit heat, as you can see from the thermometer in my van. The next day, a front moved through the area prior to a thunderstorm. You can see how that looked as it approached my neighborhood.

A few ideas to consider:
1. Keep a camera or your smart phone handy to snap unique moments in life. The photos you capture can be critical to helping you tell your story. These don't have to be posed smiley shots. Get creative.
2. Images are ideal for supporting a truth of idea you want to communicate. I could tell you about the unique cloud formation, or I can show you. Which has the greater impact?
3. I believe life is Art. We need to be more aware of ways to create and share ideas in a variety of forms and formats. Photos, video, text, graphics; they are all important. And, don't forget audio!
4. Social media sites like Pinterest are perfect for sharing images of your life, business or organization. Over time, these images get shared, Tweeted and texted again and again, helping to boost your personal or corporate brand.
Importance of Images
Images are especially important today because our collective attention span is so short. We are overwhelmed with texts and messages, and have to skim and scan our way through everything.
Break up text to promote clarity
Notice how I've broken up this post with numbers and headlines. It helps you absorb the information more quickly.
Connect
Remember, it's not about how many words or pithy prose you write. It's about whether you've connected with your audience. That's when real communication can occur.
