The Green Bay Packers won the Super Bowl on the back of quarterback Aaron Rodgers, but it was the strength of the Packers' backups that helped ensure victory.
The loss of pivotal safety Charles Woodson and key receiver Donald Driver were just the two most prominent injuries to torment the Packers, who suffered more than their share of injuries and setbacks all season. Yet the backups stepped in and helped Green Bay defeat the Steelers. What's the lesson?

Never underestimate the necessity of a strong bench. Any successful organization needs productive "second stringers" to fill the void when needed. Players, or employees, who are not the stars can easily be overlooked. It's natural, but it's dangerous if you want to build a winning team.
As a leader, make sure you keep developing the younger, less talented employees. Let them know they're important and may be called on to fill in when they might least expect it. When they do, they'll be more likely to succeed.
