Plenty of people are upset these days. They're mad about the economy, mad about the changes they have to cope with, or mad they don't seem to have the life they've always wanted.
Time to turn the anger into positive passion. Time to get really mad by "Making A Difference."
Time to turn the anger into positive passion. Time to get really mad by "Making A Difference."
When you think about making a difference, you automatically rearrange your mindset into becoming pro-active rather than re-active. You think about what you CAN do, not what you canNOT.
I'm not a big believer in circumstances. As someone said, successful people are those who go out and make their own circumstances. They make their own luck by making the most of the opportunities they see.
These same people also understand that to make the most of opportunity generally means helping others; colleagues, co-workers or customers. When you reach out to help, you nearly always become a force for postive change. You make a difference.
Our problem is not really believing we have the power to make a difference. But that's a copout, frankly. You get to hide behind that excuse for only so long. Making a difference can be a small as a quick phone call to someone or as giving a ride to a neighbor. In fact, sometimes, the smaller things make the biggest difference.
We also believe other people don't really need our help. Well, that just doesn't square with reality. We know by listening to or reading the news that there are people in need. The world is a very imperfect place. It can always use another helping hand.
Third, we fail to recognize whenever we help someone else, we help ourselves. We trigger inner emotions and psychological neurons that build positive self-esteem and self-worth. As the Old Testament book of Proverbs puts it, "He who refreshes others will himself be refreshed."
Need some refreshment? Be a force for positive change. Be MAD. Make a Difference!
What are some ways you've found that make a difference in the lives of others?
